This is the first time I’ve tuned-in to the Wordpress Weekly Episode Podcast, and wow, it’s quite a revelation! I was really impressed by Small Potatoe’s volume concept – I had initially interpreted it to be ‘volume of themes’ but to actually think of “indirectly monetising the userbase” by building up the volume of users, wow, this guy *is* a genius as Jeffro/you mentioned in the episode! ;)

It was also interesting to get the low down on premium themes, which I haven’t really fully understood, but certainly the licensing area wasn’t something I had thought of before, so thank you for bringing up the topic and discussing it with both Small Potato and also Todd Dunbar (Sorry not sure if I’ve got the name right) The points that really stuck out for me are where SP mentions the possible ineffectiveness of the current Premium Theme licenses, and where TD brings in his talk with Matt Mullenweg and his take of the situation.

To be frank (sorry about the rudeness here but I’m actually very bad with words) I hadn’t thought much about Podcasts before and wasn’t sure how much value they could add to alot of things, including Wordpress (except for listening to e.g. comedies whilst on the Tube) but having listened to this programme, it’s really change the way I think about podcasts. Revealing, indepth and sometimes a bit adhoc (adlib?) and Jeffro deserves a big kudos for keeping the momentum going for the whole hour. Thanks again for this episode! I’ll be sure to tune into the other ones in the future.

@Flick Thank you very much for stopping by and adding that invaluable feedback, I really do appreciate you taking the time to write that out. As you mentioned, the Small Potato Volume concept was genius. Really, give the theme to your user’s with almost very little resistant licensing and then let the community of users who are all using your themes do community support, freeing up time for more development. What is there not to like about that?

Flick, I hope you can at some point participate in the show live. It was awesome.

SP, you got my birthday right — May 1. We should definitely meet up out here.

It was interesting to hear your thoughts on the WordPress paid theme market.
