TheStatBot has recently published an awesome statistical analysis of TechCrunch.com Some immediate findings based on the number crunching produced by the bot:

Total of 7007 posts….

…spread over 1079 days, or just under 3 years…

…with a total of 1,977,710 words…

…at an average of 6.5 posts a day…

…with 282.2 words a post…

…receiving 228,449 comments…

…from 56,292 unique commentators…

…with 18,440 outbound links…

…to 4641 sites…

…at an average of 4 links to every site

The stats cover Jun 2005 all the way through April of 2008. Considering the success that Arrington has turned TechCrunch into, it’s very very interesting to see how it came about in a numerical sense. Judging by the Top Links which were compiled, TechCrunch has a good internal linking strategy going on with Crunchbase being the most linked to site within the posts of TechCrunch.

I also have to hand it to Mike and the crew he has had write for him. According to the numbers, Michael Arrington leads the way in terms of the number of comments left on the site. Duncan Riley who is no longer with TechCrunch came in at number 4. This means that even though there are hundreds of comments made on the blog, Arrington and his writers at least attempted to continue the conversation after the post is published, rather than letting it die off. I’ve always been told that large websites generally ignore commentators, but could TechCrunch be one of the exceptions?

Please let me know what your thoughts are on the stats provided. Did you find anything that was surprising to you?

Yesterday, I was greeted by a FedEx man who handed me a package that contained my complimentary StartUpSchwag that I wrote about back in September. ( From ValleySchwag To StartupSchwag ) Inside the package: one yellow squishy star, one CAKE sticker, one ChicagoProps.com sticker and of course, my very own Michael Arrington approved TechCrunch T-Shirt.

The shirt I received was a large TechCrunch colored green T-Shirt made out of 100% Cotton. The brand name of TechCrunch was printed on the chest part of the shirt in a combination of white and black letters on a green background. The quality appears to be top notch but I’ll have a better understanding after I wash it a few times as a washer can wreak havoc on a new T-Shirt. Personally, I think this T-Shirt would look wonderful on Tim, but I’m sure he would find other uses for it.

If you were thinking about paying the subscription to receive such items from a surprise company each month, I’d say it’s worth it. The worst that could happen is that you ONLY receive a Tshirt. That’s ok, because that is pretty much what your paying for to begin with. Everything else is just complimentary.

Below is a small video review of the schwag I received. It’s not much but I think its better than nothing. Also posted below are a few photos I took. Click on any of the photos to see a larger size.

As reported by TechCrunch today, four ex-googlers have started their own company called FriendFeed. FriendFeed aims to aggregate user data that is usually stored on a wide variety of social networking sites, into one easy to manage stream of data. The presentation of this data looks like it will be displayed in the same way that the Facebook News Feed is shown.

The question I have for all of you is, Hasn’t Jaiku been one of the first to accomplish this feat in the form of RSS feeds and aggregating them to one account? Jaiku even gives you the oppurtunity to pick which feeds of an individual that you want to subscribe to.

Because this company was started by four ex-googlers, do you think this company will take off like a rocket or will it sink like an anchor?
