I Have Symptoms Of Imposter Syndrome

I just finished watched Chris Lema’s presentation on escaping the imposter syndrome and I think I’ve been diagnosed. I have many of the symptoms he talks about such as immediately deflecting praise or compliments to someone else. I call it being humble, apparently it’s part of imposter syndrome. That’s just who I am as a person but I’d rather not devalue the amount of effort and work I put into the things I do.

There’s always a reason for any success I encounter such as someone else did the work or I just got lucky. Looks like I need to cut the bull crap and just accept the accomplishments and be happy about them instead of passing them off to someone else.

I have no problem telling someone I don’t know when asked something I don’t know. It’s all the other stuff mentioned in the video I have a problem dealing with. There’s a lot of great stuff in this presentation. Not all of it applies to me but I at least know I have symptoms related to imposter syndrome.

Wild, Wild Horses, We’ll Ride Them Some Day

I’ve never heard of this song until my uncles played it around a camp fire on their acoustic guitars. I listen to 98.5 WNCX Classic Rock out of Cleveland, Ohio and I’ve never heard this on the radio. It’s by the Rolling Stones and was released in 1971 as part of the Sticky Fingers album.

By the way, family members that know how to play a guitar around a campfire produces some of the best moments in life, at least for me. Nothing like a cold beer, singing along with family to some great tunes.

Video From Severe Weather Event On May 7th

On the evening of Friday., May 7th, 2010 I noticed a line of severe thunderstorms on the radar making their way across Ohio via the Lake Erie shoreline. These storms were pumping out a ton of electricity so I decided to go to my favorite spot with a milkshake and try to record some cloud to ground lightning strikes. Not only did I successfully record some great lightning strikes, but I was able to capture the giant shelf cloud that was being pushed in front of the supercell thunderstorm that tracked all the way from NW Ohio to the Cleveland area. This particular storm had a history of producing tornadoes but didn’t do so around the Cleveland area. However, the illuminated shelf cloud was incredible to see. Below is a video of the lightning in action but before you watch that, here are a couple screen captures from the video I recorded.

You can barely make out the shelf cloud to the left hand side

My favorite picture clearly illustrating the shelf cloud in action
